Arrington Takes
Funny Car Title

Lou Arrington picked up $1,000 for his first visit to Shelby County International Raceway last night, defeating Ron O'Donald of Illinois for the Memphis Funny Car championship.

Arrington, who drives a California-based Pontiac, turned 184.42 miles per hour and an estimated time of 8:09 to win his large pay check.  O'Donald turned 181.04 and $8:50 and received $750 for second.

A crowd of 3,700 watched the Funny Cars battle for the $5,000 prize money.

SRIC's next attraction will be the Memphis 200 next Saturday and Sunday when such drivers as A.J. Foyt, Dan McCluskey and Don White will compete in the United States Auto Club race.
