Super Stockers
    Pit Horsepower
       In Drag Battle

Memphian Herb McCandless will match race his 1968 hemi Dodge Dart against Texan Ted DeTar's hemi Barracuda today at Lakeland Drag Strip.

McCandless is on a super stock victory string stretching from St. Louis, Gary, Ind., and Bloomington, Ill.  It will be the first time he has raced in the Mid-South this season.

In another top duel, Don Cook and his South Wind Too, AA-Fuel dragster will challenge Ray Godman's Tennessee Bo-Weevil in a best-of -three, 210-miles-per-hour battle.

Funny car action pits Dickie Harrel's Camaro and the Sites' Brothers 'Bear-A-Cuda' supercharged, nitroburner.

The drag strip will open at 8:30 a.m. for runs and qualifications, while the feature schedule will begin at 2:30 p.m.
